The Community Services, Economy and Transport Theme Group is committed to exploring issues under the following headings as they affect older people:

Over the past year the group has covered the following topics and in some cases has had interesting presentations by visiting speakers :

  • East Sussex Fire and Rescue Services (Community Safety Advice)
  • Superfast Broadband
  • Highways/ road repairs (visit to the Highways Hub at Ringmer)
  • Bus Services, including service revisions in April 2015.
  • The Green Deal/Energy Efficiency
  • Rights of Way and Countryside accesss
  • The County Council’s Economic Development Strategy and Budget Cuts
  • Road Safety Initiatives
  • Car Hire Schemes
  • The Library Service include the mobile library
  • Patient Transport

Some of these topics have led to articles in the ESSA newsletter.

In 2016 it is hoped to arrange visits to the Newhaven Energy Recovery Facility, the Youth Hostel in Southease and the East Sussex Records Office based in the Keep.
